1. Universal rules

  1. Be kind.
  2. English only.
  3. Use common sense.
  4. No bigotry of any kind.
  5. Try not to alienate people.
  6. Don't engage in erotic roleplay or otherwise NSFW behavior.
  7. Don't try to evade bans in any way, appeal on the forums instead.
  8. Don't exploit bugs or unintentional mechanics to gain an advantage.
  9. No rules lawyering: just something not being banned doesn't mean it's okay.

2. Roleplay rules

These rules apply to all roleplay situations, and should always be followed within reason.

2.1. Don't play to win

This is a roleplay server first and foremost, you should not be playing it for the express purpose of "winning"

2.2. No metacomms

Don't relay current round information in the OOC (Out of character) channel or any communications outside the server.

2.3. Don't metafriend/metagrudge

Metafriending (being friends with a character based on information from other rounds) is only acceptable if you're not providing them with a tangible benefit over other people

Examples of acceptable behavior:

Examples of unacceptable behavior:

2.4. No Validhunting

Your character should fear death.

Unless you're a part of Security or your character has a reasonable military background, you should not be engaging in fights outside of defending your own life.

2.5. Metaknowledge

You should only know about niche mechanics or antags to the extent of reasonable IN CHARACTER knowledge. (i.e. as Security you can reasonably do a test for implanters if you've seen the person do something only possible with implants or if there's no other reasonable explanation) NanoTrasen is aware of the concept of implanters, being able to manufacture some themselves.

A member of the syndicate would know how the station politics work, how atmospherics work and how chemicals work, etc etc.

Knowledge traits only permit you to have reasonable knowledge.

2.6. Reasonable speciesism

Speciesist slurs should never mimic real life slurs (i.e. the SS13 reptilian slur)

No Excessive speciesism (i.e excessively harassing someone for their species)

Don't make being speciesist your personality.

2.7. Act as a reasonable member of crew

You are an employee, you should act reasonably capable at your job.

Taking breaks is fine, but don't abandon your role entirely.

2.8. Don't directly reference real life media

References are fine, as long as they're reworded ('Tris Treemur' 'Nuke Dukem').

2.9. No real life politics

The story takes place 500 years from now.

Needless to say, there's no reason you should be talking about them in character.

2.10. New life rule

If you die and get revived, you may remember the general cause of death and VERY vauge specifics about the lead to your death. But not too specific.

Examples of acceptable NLR:

Examples of unacceptable NLR:

If you respawn, you don't remember anything that's happened this shift.

2.11. Speak normally in character

Accents are fine, but you should not be using leetspeak (L1K3 TH1S) or netspeak (lol, xd, omg, etc) in character. (exceptions can be made for silicons)

2.12. Don't self-antag

This refers to acting in an antagonizing way while being crew-aligned.

Crew-aligned players should not try to be a significant detriment or threat to the station, and should de-escalate situations rather than escalating them.

Harming or killing people in self defense is allowed but only when necessary, and follow proper escalation while doing so.

Don't round remove people in self defense unless it's required. (i.e. changelings)

2.13. High-ranking staff should follow SOP

As a high-ranking member of Nanotrasen (Security, Command and Central Command) you should be acting in a professional manner.

You should try your best to familiarize yourself with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and follow it as closely as you can.

3. Griefing

These rules apply to all players

3.1. Don't mess with SSD players

Only interact with SSD players by moving them to a chair; you can cryo them if it's been 15 minutes.

Exemptions can be made if they're an antag target or you need to perform a reasonable search as Security.

3.2. Don't try to avoid punishment

If you're being ahelped, don't leave or respawn in the middle to try to get out of trouble

3.3. Don't round remove people

Unless you have an explicit objective telling you to, you should never round remove players on purpose.

3.4. If you need to leave as command/antag.

Make an ahelp and we can open the slot up for you so someone else can take the role.

3.5. Don't antag roll.

Don't repeatedly cryo or ghost to try and force an antag roll.

4. Antagonist and free agent rules

These rules apply to all antagonist and free agent roles and ghostroles

4.1 - Don't play to win (again)

Always prioritize roleplay and storytelling over winning. This means don't speedrun your objectives to complete them, or speedrun round removing someone either.

You should be talking and respecting people's attempts to roleplay with you instead of wordlessly doing your objectives. (Exception can be made in the case of the Hitman)

Don't round remove people unrelated to your objectives, camp arrivals, or team up with people who would otherwise never work with you.

Lastly, anyone that has woken up from cryo or got out of the arrival ship should be given a "grace peroid" to get situated and survive.

4.2 - Play ghost roles as their description states

When taking a ghost role, you should always make sure to read the rules of the ghost role in their entirety. Not reading ghost role rules is not an excuse to not follow them.
